Make sure to have a sufficient amount of backing in between the wall studs, (2x10 usually works in most cases) backing for hot mopping should always be at least 3 inches above the curb/dam.
You can see in this picture the contractor did a very nice job with a plenty of backing for the hot mopper. Also note how the contractor extended his height of the blocking around the perimeter of the seat which is also going to be hot mopped.
Curb Preparation for Shower Pan Hot Mopping:
Curbs also known as dams, are in most cases 4 1/2 inches - 6 inches in height. This is usually achieved by stacking 2x4's flat onto the ground. Don't be worried about using wood, once the pan gets it's hot mop it will never see water.
You can see in this picture an example of how the contractor placed his 2x4's for the curb. Good job! The hot mop installer was very happy...
